The map products created and ARCIMS are intended to be used as supplemental and/or source data for all users. The maps are designed to give locations of specific wetland types with a variety of parameters influencing the maps. Several model iterations or “scenario runs” were executed with the data sets created. An overall accuracy assessment proved to be very high, while limitations do exist. Advanced users of the wetlands information available are recommended to read the Full 319 Report and/or contact the principal investigators listed.
A selection of ‘coverages’ are available in the Wetlands Inventory GIS (Geographic Information System). The viewer has been constructed using ESRI’s (Environmental Systems Research Institute) ArcIMS (Information Management System) software and products to form a basic SDSS (Spatial Decision Support System). The data accessible represents a small portion of the possibilities to utilize remote sensing and GIS methods and techniques. Data sources include OhioView, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Ohio Department of Transportation, the Geographic Information Science and Applied Geography research center at the University of Toledo, Lucas County Auditor’s Office, the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments, and the Natural Resource Conservation Service. The IMS includes the following data layers:

Aerial Photo - Aerial photograph (Mr.Sid) of Lucas County from Auditors Office.

CAUV - Current Agricultural Use Value data. A The CAUV program is an incentive taxed based program were registered landowners pay taxes on current agriculture use instead of its developed potential (AREIS 2003).

Floodplain – This coverage represents flood hazard areas, the 500-year floodplain, and the 100-year floodplain boundary as illustrated on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) NFIP maps.

Lucas County Streams – A selection of ditch, stream, river and hydrological spatial data for Lucas County.

Image – Landsat 7 ETM+ classified image data.

Image 2 - Landsat 7 ETM+ false color image.

Soil – Lucas County soils data from USDA NRCS/SCS and ODNR.

Streets – Lucas County streets, roadways, and highway maps for location and navigation.

Wetlands – Converted shapefile of Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus remotely sensed model. The scenario available is constrained to hydric soil areas not categorized as tillable in the CAUV database.
